1. Service Description
bolthub is a non-custodial SaaS platform that enables developers to monetize API endpoints using Bitcoin Lightning Network micropayments via the L402 protocol. Endpoints may provide data, service execution, or compute workflows. We provide a managed gateway that sits in front of your API, handles 402 payment challenges, and routes Lightning payments directly to your wallet.
2. Eligibility
You must be at least 18 years old (or the age of majority in your jurisdiction) to create an account and use bolthub. By using the service, you represent that you meet this requirement.
3. Non-Custodial Disclaimer
bolthub does not custody funds. All payments from API consumers are processed directly to your connected Bitcoin wallet via the Lightning Network. Your connected wallet credentials are used to (1) generate invoices for API consumers and (2) pay your weekly platform billing invoices when auto-pay is enabled. You control auto-pay from your dashboard and can disable it at any time. We do not initiate any other transactions from your wallet.
4. Billing Terms
- •Billing cycle: Weekly (every 7 days from account creation)
- •Fees: Usage-based platform fee determined by your request volume during the billing period
- •Auto-pay: You may enable automatic payment of weekly invoices via your connected Lightning wallet
- •Grace period: If a weekly invoice is not paid within 72 hours, your gateway endpoints will be temporarily suspended
- •Suspension: Continued non-payment after the grace period results in gateway suspension until the outstanding balance is settled
5. User Responsibilities
- •Maintaining a functional Lightning wallet connection and valid wallet credentials
- •Securing your account access credentials and wallet connection details
- •Ensuring accurate endpoint configuration (correct upstream URL, pricing model, and parameters)
- •Monitoring your usage and billing and keeping your account in good standing
6. Provider Representations and IP Compliance
By listing an endpoint on the platform, you represent and warrant that:
- •You hold all necessary rights, licenses, and permissions to offer, distribute, and monetize the data and services accessible through your endpoint
- •You are not reselling, sublicensing, or redistributing data or services in violation of any upstream provider's terms of service, license agreement, or applicable law
- •You will respond to and comply with any IP-related inquiry from bolthub within 48 hours of receipt
- •bolthub has no obligation to verify the legality or licensing status of data served through your endpoints. All responsibility and liability rests solely with you as the provider

7. Acceptable Use Policy
Use of bolthub is subject to our Acceptable Use Policy. In summary, you must not:
- •Use the gateway to serve illegal content or facilitate illegal transactions
- •Resell, redistribute, or sublicense data or services obtained from third-party providers in violation of their terms of service or licensing agreements
- •Serve content through your endpoints that infringes on the intellectual property rights of any third party
- •Abuse the gateway infrastructure (e.g., self-dealing to inflate usage metrics)
- •Attempt to circumvent billing, usage tracking, or rate limiting mechanisms
- •Impersonate other users or misrepresent your identity
- •Probe, scan, or test the vulnerability of the service or any related system or network
8. Content Moderation and API Hub Enforcement
We reserve the right, at our sole discretion, to remove or delist any endpoint, API, or account that appears to promote, distribute, or facilitate illegal content or illegal activity.
- •This includes, without limitation: child sexual exploitation material, illegal drug sales, illegal weapons trafficking, fraud schemes, malware distribution, and other unlawful conduct
- •We may suspend access immediately while we investigate suspected violations
- •API Hub listing is a privilege and may be revoked at any time to protect users, partners, and legal compliance
9. Takedown and Reporting Process
We provide a mechanism for rights holders and third parties to report suspected intellectual property violations or other policy breaches:
- •Reports may be submitted via the "Report" function in the API Hub or by emailing contact@bolthub.ai
- •Upon receiving a valid report, bolthub will investigate and may suspend the reported endpoint pending review
- •If the endpoint provider cannot demonstrate lawful rights to the content or data within 10 business days, the endpoint will be permanently removed
- •Repeat offenders may have their account terminated without further notice
- •bolthub will make reasonable efforts to notify the endpoint provider of any report and provide an opportunity to respond before permanent removal
10. Intellectual Property
You retain all rights to the APIs and content you serve through bolthub. By using the service, you grant us a limited, non-exclusive license to proxy requests to your endpoints as necessary to operate the gateway. We retain all rights to the bolthub platform, brand, and related technologies.
11. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Signal Tech Pty Ltd (operating as bolthub), its officers, employees, and affiliates from any claims, losses, or damages (including legal fees) arising from your use of the service, your violation of these terms, the content and APIs you serve through the platform, or any infringement of third-party intellectual property rights resulting from your use of the platform.
12. Limitation of Liability
bolthub is provided "as is" without warranty of any kind. We are not responsible for:
- •Lightning wallet failures or connectivity issues
- •Failed Lightning payments due to insufficient liquidity or routing issues
- •Wallet relay outages or latency
- •Third-party wallet provider downtime, bugs, or security incidents
- •Loss of funds resulting from compromised wallet credentials
- •Upstream API failures or incorrect endpoint configuration
- •Third-party claims arising from data or content served through provider endpoints
In no event shall Signal Tech Pty Ltd be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the service. Our total cumulative liability shall not exceed the platform fees you have paid in the 12 months preceding the claim.
13. Data Handling
We collect and store only what is necessary to operate the platform:Privacy Policy.
- •Usage metrics: request counts and billing cycle data
- •Invoice records: Lightning invoices created through the gateway
- •Wallet credentials: encrypted at rest using industry-standard encryption
- •No tracking cookies: we do not use analytics cookies or third-party trackers
14. Account Termination
- •We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts for non-payment or violation of these terms
- •You may delete your account at any time from your account settings or by emailing contact@bolthub.ai
- •Upon account deletion, we will remove your data in accordance with our data retention policy
15. Modifications to Terms
We may update these terms from time to time. For material changes (including pricing changes), we will provide at least 30 days' notice via the email address associated with your account. Continued use of the service after the notice period constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
16. Governing Law
These terms are governed by the laws of Queensland, Australia. Any disputes arising from these terms shall be resolved in the courts of Queensland, Australia.
